We are seeking a Research Assistant to support a HEIF-funded project exploring cybersecurity challenges for micro-businesses (1–5 employees) and assessing the feasibility of an AI-driven cybersecurity platform. This role will involve conducting research, engaging with stakeholders, and contributing to the development of a business model for scalable cybersecurity solutions.

The start we are aiming for is 02/04/2025 with an end date of 30/06/2025 - there are 225 hours to be utilised, hybrid/ remote working will be considered.

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Conduct research on cybersecurity threats, industry trends, and existing security solutions for micro-businesses.
  2. Assist in analysing cyber risks and business resilience needs for small enterprises.
  3. Support stakeholder engagement, including arranging meetings and gathering insights from industry experts.
  4. Collect and analyse qualitative and quantitative data to inform project outcomes.
  5. Assist in preparing reports, case studies, and research papers for dissemination.
  6. Contribute to the development of recommendations for future funding applications (e.g., KTP, Innovate UK).

Skills and experience

  • Ideally a PhD candidate or postgraduate student with research experience in cybersecurity, business resilience, or a related field.
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Experience in report writing and research dissemination.
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders and work within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
