Role
The WBS Undergraduate CareersPlus Team provides a specialised careers service solely for UG Warwick Business School students. We are looking for a Work Experience Ambassador to support our UG service and to help shape our work experience and placement provision and promotion to students.
Duties and responsibilities
- Advocate all types of undergraduate work experience – insight days/internships and work placements
- Coordinate, lead and facilitate on and offline events with our team of placement pro volunteers
- Promote different campaigns/initiatives e.g. lecture shout-outs
- Analyse current student expectations through means of network/surveys, provide feedback to Careers service in order to contribute to the content and support the development of careers resource pages on my.wbs
- Support with student placement pop-up sessions during term time and signpost internal career services
- Support year away work-related specific information sessions throughout the year i.e. contribute to student panels and/or student Q&A sessions
- Work collaboratively with the Communications and Engagement and Year Abroad Ambassadors to deliver holistic campaigns throughout the year on and offline
- Explore ideas/systems for recording and capturing seasonal internship information for undergraduate students
- Work with the Placement and Internship team to develop a placement culture across the business school
- Deliver keynote speeches at our key Year Away events (such as Year Away Student of the Year awards)
- Be an advocate on social media and provide support and guidance on platforms such as Linkedin to WBS students considering any work experience/placement year activity
- To engage with WBS academics/lecturers across all WBS modules and present in lectures/seminars your own learned experience the importance of undertaking work experience (e.g. a placement year/internship) and how these can impact specific employability skills and how the learning outcomes from these modules are applicable to real-world employment practice
Skills and experience
Essential
- A final year WBS Student who has previously undertaken an optional placement year or year abroad work placement
- WBS Student for the 2025-26 academic year
- Prepared to work up to 5 hours a week for this role from September to May (hours are flexible)
- Experience in Public Speaking/Presenting to audiences
Desirable
- Experience in Digital and physical communications
- Passionate about work experience and promoting the benefits to undergraduate students
- Affiliations with student societies (WBSS, WFS, WCS, WAFS)
Location
Combination of working from home and on campus (must be in the UK)
