Description

Role

Our Client is seeking a dedicated PBS Practitioner to support autistic adults with related disabilities, helping them develop essential skills for independence, well-being, and social inclusion. This role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team to implement behaviour support plans and provide person-centred care in a variety of settings.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide Behaviour Analytic-based support to adult learners, promoting skill acquisition and independence
  • Facilitate social, leisure, educational, and employment opportunities in both structured and community settings
  • Implement individual learning plans, curriculum-based activities, behaviour support strategies, and health care plans
  • Encourage and enable adult learners to maintain personal and environmental hygiene
  • Promote choice, involvement, and decision-making to enhance learners’ autonomy and empowerment
  • Collect, record, and analyse behavioural and learning data to support progress evaluations
  • Administer medication (following training) and manage medical emergencies in accordance with company policies
  • Supervise and mentor staff, supporting their professional development and ensuring high standards of care
  • Write staffing rotas, vehicle allocations, and activity schedules to ensure effective service delivery
  • Oversee off-site visits, ensuring smooth logistics and risk management
  • Perform key worker responsibilities, including conducting direct and indirect assessments to monitor progress
  • Support senior staff in training and mentoring new and existing team members
  • Ensure adherence to daily schedules, policies, and safeguarding procedures
  • Continuously develop knowledge of autism, behavioural analysis, and disability support to enhance service quality
  • Promote and uphold the good reputation of the organisation and its services
  • Attend mandatory training sessions and undertake further qualifications as required
  • Carry out any additional tasks that reasonably align with the role’s purpose

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience working in adult social care or a related setting (e.g., community services, home-based support, day centres, residential care)
  • Strong understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and/or Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) principles
  • Experience working with individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, or complex needs
  • Skilled in mentoring, supervising staff, and delivering in-house training
  • Comfortable supporting individuals with challenging behaviours and personal care needs
  • Excellent record-keeping, data collection, and report-writing skills
  • Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and communication abilities to collaborate effectively across departments
  • Able to work independently in 1:1 settings and community-based support roles

Desirable Qualifications:

  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Adults) or equivalent
  • Formal training in PBS or ABA (e.g., CAPBS Coaches Programme, AIBI levels, PBS competency framework)
