Role
The University of Edinburgh’s Information Services Group (ISG) invites applications from undergraduate students interested in working this summer as a Staff Communications Intern. The key purpose of this role is to contribute to the provision of excellent staff and colleague communications and campaigns, through multiple channels, platforms and media-types, managed by the ISG Communications department.
Within this role, you will gain practical experience in identifying relevant information to be included in staff communications, working with stakeholders to produce stories and updates to be shared online, and consistently monitoring and reviewing a staff Intranet platform, ensuring shared information and communications are up to date. The skills you will develop by completing this internship include stakeholder and project management, copywriting, editing and multi-platform communications. You will join the ISG Communications Department who are responsible for the staff communications to over 800 members of staff, as well as offering communications leadership and support to several key projects.
You can expect to start work on the 2nd June 2025 and work until the 12th September 2025, with an outlook to continuing in the 2025-26 academic year. You will work 15 hours per week (Monday to Friday) in a hybrid working pattern split between working from home (commutable distance from Edinburgh), and in Argyle House. You will be paid £12.67 per hour, plus £2.29 per hour holiday pay. Payment is one month in arrears, meaning your first payment date (should this position start when expected) will be 28th July 2025.
For more information on what to expect as an ISG Summer Intern and to hear from previous interns, please see our ISG Student Employment website.
