Description
Role
You will support autistic adults with their care needs, encouraging learning and development to help each individual reach their full potential. You will also assist the support worker team to ensure the smooth delivery of each adult’s care plan.
Duties and responsibilities
- Support learners in developing life skills.
- Prepare teaching and learning rooms/kitchens before and after lunchtimes.
- Provide personal care, including feeding, hygiene support, and promoting independence.
- Participate in off-site activities with learners.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of learning resources (printing, laminating, downloading materials).
- Maintain centre-wide stationery and ensure resources are well-organized.
- Build strong relationships with learners, support workers, and parents.
- Engage in ongoing training for professional development.
- Develop a deeper understanding of autism spectrum disorders and associated disabilities.
- Follow company policies and procedures within defined timescales.
- Carry out any other relevant duties as required.
Skills and experience
- Good numeracy and literacy skills.
- A passion for working with individuals with learning disabilities.
- Comfortable working with adults who may exhibit challenging behaviour.
- Willingness to provide personal care when necessary.
- Understanding of and commitment to safeguarding adults and young people.
- Positive, proactive, and adaptable attitude.
- Experience (professional, personal, or voluntary) with adults or children with SEND is desirable.
