Description
Role
As a Senior Support Worker, you will support autistic adults in developing essential skills for independence, wellbeing, and social inclusion. You will assist Team Leaders in managing staff and resources while mentoring and training team members. Your role includes overseeing daily activities, supporting community participation, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with care plans and policies.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provide Behaviour Analytic-based support to adult learners.
- Facilitate participation in social, leisure, educational, and employment activities.
- Deliver care and support in line with individual learning plans, behaviour support plans, and Health and Care Plans.
- Collect, record, and analyse data to track learner progress.
- Promote personal and environmental hygiene among learners.
- Support decision-making and encourage individual empowerment.
- Administer medication (once trained) and respond to medical emergencies.
- Monitor communication logs and financial records, providing feedback to senior staff.
- Organise daily staffing and vehicle rotas.
- Oversee key worker responsibilities and performance assessments.
- Train and mentor new and existing staff.
- Ensure adherence to schedules and company policies.
- Engage in professional development and mandatory training.
- Maintain the organisation’s reputation and uphold best practices.
Skills and experience
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults).
- Recognised training in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in autism support and behavioural analysis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Hands-on experience with PBS or ABA.
- Experience in adult social care, community services, or similar settings.
- Expertise in supporting individuals with autism and complex needs.
- Proven ability to mentor staff, manage performance, and deliver training.
- Ability to handle challenging behaviours and provide personal care where needed.
- Strong record-keeping and data analysis skills.
- Positive, empathetic, and confidential approach.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
