Description
Role
We are looking for a Class Support Assistant to assist pupils with autism and related disabilities in their daily school activities. You will work closely with the teaching team to support learning and development while ensuring smooth delivery of educational programs.
Duties and responsibilities
- Support pupils in developing social, emotional, and academic skills.
- Deliver specific learning activities to aid progression toward learning objectives.
- Assist with indoor and outdoor playtime, promoting positive interactions.
- Prepare and maintain lunch and break areas before and after use.
- Provide personal care, including toileting and feeding, while promoting independence.
- Participate in extra-curricular and off-site activities during school hours.
- Help with the creation and organization of teaching materials, including printing and laminating.
- Maintain classroom supplies and resources.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, teachers, and parents.
- Engage in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Follow all safeguarding policies and school procedures.
Skills and experience
- Experience (professional, personal, or voluntary) working with children or young adults, preferably with SEND.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- Passion for supporting children with learning disabilities.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours with a patient and compassionate approach.
- Willingness to assist with personal care when necessary.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child welfare.
- Physically able to perform tasks such as bending, lifting, and working at lower heights.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
