Role

Unitemps are recruiting for a Interviewer/Focus Group Convener. This is a part-time role at 10 hours per week. This role is for a March 24th start date and has a projected end date of April 18th 2025. Payment is set at £23.84 per hour + holiday pay. This role will be UCL Hybrid working wit 1 day per week from the office.

The Faculty of Engineering is made up of 10 Departments spread across central London and East London. The individual will work alongside the Equality Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI) Team. We are looking for an individual to interview neurodivergent doctoral students (either individually or in a focus group) about their experiences. The individual will be based in the main campus in central London. The individual will work with the EDI Coordinator.

Duties and responsibilities

The role will involve reaching out to doctoral students in the Faculty to find neurodivergent students who are interested in participating in an interview or focus group about their experiences at UCL, arranging to speak to them, and then conducting these interviews/focus groups online. The interviews will not be recorded so good note taking skills are essential.

The hours required may be flexible (approximately 10 hours a week, as students will likely not be available for interview at short notice) and will likely span over 3-4 weeks, but the total hours worked will be 36.5 hours (one full-time working week).

Skills and experience

Essential:
  • Experience in conducting interviews and focus groups, including taking notes and preparing summaries.
  • Experience and knowledge regarding neurodivergence and supporting neurodivergent people.
  • Experience and knowledge regarding mental health.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and awareness of regulations regarding secure handling of data.

Desirable:

  • Experience of working on EDI themes in general.
  • Experience of working in an academic/research setting.

Location
