As such, we are seeking Student Partners to shape the curriculum, the student experience and extra-curricular activities across the university to ensure these reflect every student and offer a positive student experience for all. 

You will work collaboratively alongside members of staff and the University’s Closing our Gap Strategic Lead as equal partners. You will share your views, experiences, skills and knowledge in order to bring about change and support reviews of academic (including curriculum design) and professional services provisions so that it is multi-cultural and inclusive. 

This work will be flexible and part time, helping you to develop a range of skills such as critical thinking, presentation, and self-confidence. Student Partners will be active participants in our commitment to Closing the awarding gap and improve student inclusion, belonging and wellbeing and embed sustainability. We welcome applicants of Black, Asian, Mixed Heritage and Other Minoritised communities, individuals with a disability and neurodiverse conditions, LGBTQ+, international students, mature students and students from other marginalised groups. 

Post holders will be expected to join the new CCCU Student partners committee, helping to build a stronger relationship between students, staff and the university.

Duties and responsibilities
Student Partners will:

  • Play an active role in the university’s ambition to eliminate foster an inclusive, anti-racist and multi-cultural learning, teaching and working environment. 
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of university-wide projects including decolonising the curriculum  
  • Work collaboratively with academic and professional services staff to share their perspectives, writing up and presenting their findings
  • Review and contribute to course materials such as course handbooks, module guides, assessment instructions and online materials
  • Lead small group sessions with students and/or staff to gain feedback or focus on targeted actions
  • Create resources to support activities• Be part of CCCU Student Partners committee

Skills and experience

  • A passion and commitment to promoting inclusion, belonging, anti-racism and sustainability 
  • Understanding of the barriers to inclusion, belonging or sustainability 
  • Communicate with Student Course Representatives to share ideas, pass on representational issues that may arise, and gain insight into student opinion 
  • Liaise with the key CCCU Strategic Leads or others in supervision roles to keep them informed of the progress of the projects and to ask for support and guidance 
  • Knowledge of the demands of higher education 
  • Creative-minded, flexible and a team player 
  • Enthusiastic, hard-working and able to work productively and independently 
  • Good communicator and listener with effective interpersonal skills 
  • Reliable with good timekeeping 
  • Interested in the on-going development of the student experience
