Unitemps are recruiting for a Project Manager (workshop organiser) for the UCL Department of Economics. This is a part-time role at 5 hours per week. This role is for a March 3rd 2025 start date and has a projected end date of July 18th 2025. Payment is set at £19.18 per hour + holiday pay. This role will be UCL campus based working.
 
CTaLE is a leading economics education research and training centre, dedicated to trialling and evaluating techniques and technologies for teaching economics in an impactful and inclusive way. 
 
We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Project Manager to oversee the planning and execution of our upcoming one day workshop on June 10th 2025, funded by the Stone Centre UCL. 
 
The conference will bring together economics academics from UK universities to discuss the impact of GenAI on economics education, with a working title AI and Assessment for Economics Degrees. We are expecting around 60 attendees to join in person and are looking at the potential or others to join online.

Duties and responsibilities

The role holder will be working closely with CTaLE Director, Professor Parama Chaudhury, and Associate Director, Professor Cloda Jenkins (Imperial) and other CTaLE members and associates from Exeter, KCL, LSE and Southampton to deliver the following:
 
  • Plan, organize and manage all aspects of the conference, including logistics (A/V, room booking etc), scheduling, and coordination.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed project plan, outlining key milestones and deadlines.
  • Support and point of contact for co-organisers, session chairs and speakers with their preparations for the day.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and any external vendors to ensure all conference needs are met.
  • Manage the conference budget, ensuring all expenses are tracked and within allocated limits.
  • Oversee the registration process, including attendee communication and support.
  • Oversee the work of research assistants supporting on the conference logistics and outputs.
  • Handle on-site event management, including setup, execution, and teardown.
  • Ensure all conference materials and resources are prepared and available as needed.
  • Address any issues or challenges that arise during the planning and execution phases.
  • Provide post-conference analysis and feedback to improve future events and to produce a conference report.

Skills and experience

Essential skills and competencies:

  • Proven experience as a project manager, preferably in event planning or conference management and for hybrid events.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours as needed during the conference period.

Desirable skills and competencies:

  • Experience line managing and working with student partners.
  • Experience with events publicity, especially on social media.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
