Description

Role

We are looking for committed Maths/ English and Science tutors to join our experienced team. Your responsibilities will include preparing individualised lessons, tracking students' performance and homework, and having termly progress meetings with the Director. The learners will range in age from those studying for their 11+, SATs and GCSEs predominantly. 

The candidate/s should be committed to facilitating learning in a safe and supportive environment. Top-notch candidates will demonstrate a reflexive approach to tutoring and will have the student’s goals and ambitions at the forefront of what they do.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Preparing and delivering lessons to improve students’ overall confidence and results in subject area.
  • Developing educational content such as notes, quizzes, games that will benefit learning.
  • Assigning activities/ resources to facilitate students' consolidation of learning material.
  • Tailoring your teaching style in accordance with students' needs.
  • Tracking and reporting on students' progress- in class assessment and homework. 
  • Use our business forms for tracking and monitoring progress.
  • Use of own vehicle to deliver tuition in student's homes- fuel allowance paid. 
  • Follow our policies and procedures in terms of Safeguarding.

Skills and experience

Essential:

  • Enhanced DBS (current) ideally registered to the update service. 
  • Exceptional grades at GCSE and A-Level- (8-9- A/ B or equivalent) in the subject you intend to tutor.
  • A passion for your subject area. 
  • A commitment to helping our students to achieve their goals by championing and inspiring them. 
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Own laptop or desktop computer equipped with an HD webcam. 
  • Fast and stable internet connection. 
  • Excellent computer skills. 
  • Organised and attentive to students' needs. 
  • Growth mindset- resilient and determined. 
  • The ability to be creative and innovative and coach others to be the best that can possibly be. 
  • For in-person tuition- tutor must have their own vehicle to travel to student’s homes. 

Desirable:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education with a specialisation in either English, Maths or Science (or equivalent). 
  • Prior experience as a tutor/ mentor preferably within a similar environment. 
  • Examiner experience (2+ years) for AQA or Edexcel.

Additional information

  • Full training and support provided. 
  • Starting rate- £18 per hour.
