Description

Role

The newly launched Warwick Education Fund Project, “Identifying Barriers and Use Cases for Generative AI in Education Using Retrieval-Augmented Generation and Staff Surveys,” is seeking a student project intern. The role will be an integral part of the project team, working closely with 10 staff members and 3 other student members to support research, data analysis, and collaboration efforts.

Duties and responsibilities

The intern will work approximately 160 hours between February and July 2025 on a flexible schedule. This is equivalent to 4 weeks of full-time work (40 hours/week).

  • As soon as possible to ensure timely questionnaire design and ethical approval.

Duties

  • Collaborate with the project team to design a questionnaire that identifies barriers to using Generative AI in education across the University.
  • Analyse survey results using tools such as Excel and SPSS.
  • Present questionnaire designs and findings in both oral and written formats, at informal meetings and formal conferences.

Skills and experience

It is essential that you demonstrate a keen interest in Generative AI technologies and their potential impact on teaching, learning, academic support, and education policy. In addition, strong oral and written communication skills are essential, as you will be expected to present findings clearly and effectively in various formats. Collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders across different levels of the University will require flexibility, interpersonal skills, and a willingness to learn and adapt.

  • Qualitative Research: Solid understanding of qualitative research methods, particularly questionnaire design and analysis.
  • Data Analysis Tools: Proficiency with analytical and visualization tools such as Excel and/or SPSS.
  • Survey Software: Familiarity with Qualtrics software, or willingness to learn.

Location
UK - This role is hybrid. While the majority of your work can be completed remotely, face-to-face meetings will be required on an as-needed basis.
