Unitemps are recruiting for three Student Ambassadors (UCL POSTGRADUATE ONLY) within the Faculty of Life Sciences department. The role is to work the date of Wednesday 12 February 2025 part time at 3 hours. Payment is set at £14.14 + holiday pay per hour and the role will be CAMPUS based.

UCL Life Sciences is home to a vibrant, diverse community of outstanding students, researchers and world-leading academics studying the science and biology of life, from novel discoveries to the delivery of real-world solutions, from molecules and cells to populations and ecosystems. Three postgraduate students from our UCL East ecology courses (ideally one from each of the three programmes) are needed for a UCL East Postgraduate Open Evening on 12 February (4.30pm - 7.30pm).

Duties and responsibilities

Student Ambassadors are current UCL students employed on a casual basis to assist with activities primarily for the Faculty of Life Sciences marketing and communications team at UCL. The Student Ambassador - Events will support UCL staff at a UCL East recruitment event on 12th February, discuss their course with prospective students and lead UCL Faculty campus tours.

Life Sciences Student Ambassadors represent UCL by: 

  • Promoting and enhancing the reputation of UCL to prospective students and their influencers
  • Providing positive role models to those thinking of studying at UCL and about higher education as a whole
  • Supporting the smooth running of UCL events led by Life Sciences.

Skills and experience

  • Representing UCL in a competent and professional manner
  • Maintaining a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all visitors to the University/event participants
  • Proactively providing practical support to University staff running events, e.g. helping set-up, welcoming visitors, facilitating campus tours, answering questions, giving directions, assisting with registration, etc
  • Discussing and sharing experiences of their own education, past and present. 
  • This may include giving presentations to groups of students/parents/teachers about aspects of university student life at UCL, as directed
  • Being aware of university policies and procedures including Safeguarding Children, Data Protection, Consumer Rights and Manual Handling; Ambassadors will be required, from time to time, to fulfil other duties as appropriate to their skills.

Please note to be eligible to work within this role, you must have the right to work in the UK, be physically based in the UK and be able to travel to our London based office for a RTW check (if required).
