Description

Role
The University of Leicester is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Programme Administrator (Exams) to join our School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences. As a vital member of our administrative team, you will play a key role in supporting undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses, ensuring a seamless experience for students throughout their academic journey. From initial enquiry to becoming an alumnus, you will help maintain and enhance the quality of our academic programmes. This role is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the University’s mission to transform lives through education and research, as part of a supportive and dynamic team.

Duties and responsibilities

In this role, you will oversee the end-to-end administration of assessments, ensuring the smooth delivery of examinations and adherence to University regulations. You will be responsible for monitoring student progression and engagement, keeping accurate records and addressing any issues promptly to support students in achieving their potential.

Acting as the main point of contact for students, academic staff, external examiners, and other departments, you will handle queries professionally and efficiently. You will also assist in curriculum planning and timetabling, ensuring that module specifications are correctly recorded and that students are provided with timely information about their schedules.

Additionally, you will organise and service important meetings, such as Board of Examiners meetings. This will include preparing necessary documentation, taking minutes, and following up on action items. In this role, you will also provide mentoring and task management for Administration Assistants, contributing to a collaborative and productive work environment.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you will be educated to A-level standard or equivalent, or have substantial administrative experience in a busy environment. You should have experience with data input and maintaining accurate records, as well as strong organisational skills that allow you to prioritise tasks and meet tight deadlines.

You will need exceptional attention to detail, combined with effective communication skills, to interact confidently with a wide range of stakeholders. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, while demonstrating initiative and flexibility, is essential. A commitment to providing high-quality service and adapting to changing demands is also a key requirement.

While not essential, it would be advantageous to have experience in minute-taking, supervising administrative staff, and working within a higher education setting. Familiarity with university systems such as SITS and CMIS is also desirable.
