Description
Role
With funding from the Institute for Advanced Teaching and Learning (IATL) and Warwick International Higher Education Academy (WIHEA) we are undertaking a student-led project to investigate and capture student experiences when it comes to taking part in group work at the University. We are seeking a number of Student Project Officers who want to make a positive impact in the way education is designed and delivered in the University.
We want to provide this as an opportunity to co-create this project to explore the experiences of students who have taken part in assessed group work during their modules. We hope to capture these insights to better inform resources and to provide recommendations to establish best practices of using and designing group work activities in the University.
We are interested in Project Leads to co-create aspects of the project (e.g., guide research questions) and to lead in the data collection methods to provide unique insights into this important method of teaching.
This project will have both quantitative and qualitative elements. Student Project officers will receive relevant training on conducting focus group and survey research methods (or alternatives), and be involved in the design, delivery, analysis and outputs of each stage of the project.
Duties and responsibilities
The Student Project Officers will work with support from WMG and Student Opportunity staff, and in partnership with students, other academic departments and other university teams, to:
Conduct surveys focussing on experiences of skills gained in degrees and those required during work placement years.
Design and run a series of focus groups to explore student experiences of group work.
Collect and analyse findings to identify trends and patterns
Contribute to research outputs including:
Written report on findings and recommendations for departments across the University
Teaching materials and co-curricular resources to support students
Recommend actions that can be taken to establish best-practices of group work.
Present the findings in relevant meetings and events within the institution and across the sector, such as relevant conferences
Carry out other tasks as directed by the project lead
