Description

Role

To support the development of impact cases studies for REF 2029 across the philosophy department. The role will support up to five impact case studies across numerous activities (detail below), as directed by the Director of Research and Impact, The Head of Administration and Impact Case Study leads.

Duties and responsibilities

The Research and Impact Assistant will:

  • Carry out activity as required to enhance the philosophy department’s impact portfolio as directed by the Director of Research and Impact and the Head of Administration
  • Work with impact case study leads to improve the impact of cases to be submitted to REF 2029
  • Draft content for websites, blogs, op eds, social media profiles and policy briefs
  • Maintain and develop relationships with key stakeholders beyond academia
  • Work with stakeholders to develop new impact, under the guidance of identified academics, including developing and promoting training material, co-authoring academic and public facing material, giving talks, communicating with journalists and other interested stakeholders.
  • Identify and collate lists of potential stakeholders, contacting stakeholders beyond academia
  • Organise events, including, workshops, roundtables and meetings, including organising venues, travel and accommodation and taking responsible for the smooth running of such events
  • Liaise with relevant internal stakeholders within Warwick University. 

Skills and experience

  • A first degree in philosophy or cognate discipline (e.g. Politics, Ethics, Law, Psychology)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good IT skills and familiarity with relevant IT systems (e.g. MS Office and sitebuilder/Wordpress, various social media)
  • Ability to work independently and seek supervision when appropriate
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Organised, with excellent time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and professional skills with the ability to build working relationships with project team members, stakeholders and the public.
  • Experience of event organisation
  • Demonstrable interest in the impact of philosophy on policy, NGOs and/or public understanding

Desirable

  • A PHD in philosophy or cognate discipline (e.g. Politics, Ethics, Law, Psychology)
