Role
Warwick Enterprise seeks a creative and skilled Student Videographer to capture, edit, and produce high-quality video content. This role focuses on documenting and showcasing entrepreneurial activities, student innovation, and enterprise-focused events at Warwick Enterprise. The videographer will help tell richer stories that highlight the quality and depth of Warwick Enterprise’s impact.
These stories will not only inspire current students but also attract future entrepreneurs, engage alumni, and demonstrate Warwick Enterprise’s pivotal role in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship at the university level. Additionally, the content will serve to attract external collaborators and potential funding by showcasing the transformative impact of our initiatives.
This position will work closely with Digital Content Officer and is ideal for students who have a passion for storytelling, video production, and creating content that inspires and engages diverse audiences. We welcome applications from students in disciplines such as Film Studies, Creative Design, or students who have relevant experience and are looking to expand their professional videography portfolio.
Duties and responsibilities
1) Filming and Event Coverage
- Capture high-quality video footage of key events, including the Innovation Fellow contribution, student and graduate entrepreneurial journeys, and student society roundtable discussions.
- Operate professional equipment such as cameras, lighting, and audio tools to ensure exceptional video quality.
- Direct and engage participants during filming to deliver authentic and impactful content while adhering to accessibility and inclusivity standards.
2) Pre-Production Planning and Collaboration
- Collaborate with Warwick Enterprise and relevant Warwick Innovation Group staff to develop creative concepts, detailed storyboards, and structured shot lists.
- Prepare filming locations, ensuring venues meet accessibility requirements and are optimally set up for video production.
- Participate in regular project meetings to align objectives, share progress updates, and implement feedback for process improvements.
3) Post-Production and Content Delivery
- Edit and produce video content using industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro), incorporating captions, transitions, and music to enhance engagement and accessibility.
- Ensure all video outputs are consistent with Warwick Enterprise branding and align with Warwick University’s broader branding guidelines.
- Deliver finalized content in multiple formats optimized for platforms such as social media, websites, and presentations, ensuring compatibility and quality.
4) Accessibility and Inclusion
- Ensure all video content complies with accessibility standards, including the use of captions, appropriate text formatting, and clear visual elements.
- Represent diverse audiences in video content to promote inclusivity and broaden engagement.
- Embed inclusive storytelling practices into the creative process.
5) GDPR Compliance and Data Protection
- Adhere to GDPR and Warwick University’s data protection policies in all aspects of video production and data handling.
- Obtain and document appropriate consent from all individuals featured in videos or photographs.
- Ensure the secure storage, usage, and disposal of all video footage and related data in compliance with data protection standards.
Skills and experience
The role is specifically designed for students from Film Studies, Creative Design, or closely related backgrounds. Candidates are strongly recommended to demonstrate their technical and creative abilities through a portfolio showcasing their previous work.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in professional video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or equivalent.
- Experience operating cameras, lighting setups, and audio recording equipment.
- Strong understanding of video composition, framing, and visual aesthetics.
Creativity and Storytelling: Demonstrated ability to create engaging and visually compelling content that tells a story or highlights an event’s impact.
Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.
Accessibility and Inclusion Awareness: Familiarity with accessibility standards for video content, including captioning, visual clarity, and inclusive storytelling practices.
GDPR Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of GDPR principles, including the secure handling of data and obtaining consent for video content use.
