Role
With a rich history spanning over 125 years, City St George’s Students’ Union is the primary organisation representing every City St George’s student. That makes the Union the representative body for over 20,000 members.
With five Full-Time Student Officers, a team of permanent staff and the involvement of student volunteers, the Union is at the heart of activity on campus tasked with improving and delivering the best Student Experience. The Union delivers a range of services and support for its members, from independent academic advice to supporting our Programme Reps to enhance their course, to promoting the employability and development of students through our Communities Team. The Union also runs an online store which sells a range of products, including ethically sourced University branding clothing, merchandise, and stationery.
Duties and responsibilities
PLEASE NOTE: This is not suitable for a current student.
Supporting the Communities team, this role will provide the administrative support for our student groups. This will involve processing events forms, evaluating external speaker forms, helping student groups set up their events, responding to society queries and inspiring students to run engaging and safe events.
Working on our Welcome Desk, our ideal candidate will be friendly, enthusiastic, have good communication skills and the ability to multi-task to get the job done. Excellent customer service skills are a must. You’ll also support the wider Union team, in particular our Union Shop and Union Advice service, with administrative duties including packing orders and booking advice appointments.
Skills and experience
- To work on the Students’ Union Welcome Desk.
- To open and close the Welcome Desk daily.
- To serve students, staff, and visitors by greeting and directing them appropriately.
- To provide administrative support for Student Groups and Student communities.
- To assist with the wider Students’ Union team including the Union shop and Union Advice.
- Experience in a customer-facing role.
- Experience of using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
- Relevant experience providing effective administrative support
- Excellent customer services skills in-person, via email and over the phone.
- Basic IT, numeracy, and literacy skills – proficient in using Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to prioritise own workload.
- Understanding and commitment to equality of opportunity for all.
- Able to work on a shift pattern, with potential opening hours from 8.30am-6.45pm during term time.
