This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in content creation and campaign planning while supporting the Careers and Employability Service at Middlesex University. This internship is ideal for a creative and detail-oriented individual looking to develop their skills in social media management, graphic design, video editing, and content strategy. You’ll work on a range of exciting projects, including launching a new LinkedIn page, producing engaging visual content, and collaborating on impactful campaigns to engage students and alumni.

Our ideal candidate is proactive, creative, and eager to learn, with an interest in digital marketing, social media, and design. This role will allow you to refine your content creation skills while contributing to meaningful initiatives that enhance the student and alumni experience.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Support the launch and growth of a new LinkedIn Page for the Careers and Employability Service.
  • Develop visual content for campaigns such as:
    • Student and alumni feedback.
    • Success stories.
    • Promoting Handshake and Shortlist.Me.
    • The MDX Alumni Connect mentoring programme.
    • The MDX Internship Scheme Phase II.
    • The upcoming CareerConnect festival.
    • Raising awareness about MDX graduate competencies and LinkedIn Learning resources.
  • Collaborate with the Digital and Project Coordinator on copywriting, campaign scheduling, KPI setting, and growth monitoring.
  • Design or edit PDF files using Adobe InDesign.
  • Film, edit, and post videos for the Careers and Employability Instagram account.
  • Create and utilise engaging assets to drive interaction on the Handshake feed, promoting initiatives, resources, and employer opportunities.

Skills and experience

Essential

  • Interest in content creation, social media management, and visual storytelling.
  • Experience or familiarity with design tools such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop or similar software.
  • Minimum of intermediate level of video editing with Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut or similar software.
  • Understanding of social media platforms, especially Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently, with strong time management skills.
  • Proactiveness and leadership
  • Creative thinking and ideation

Desirable

  • Studying in a relevant area such as media production, graphic design, digital marketing and branding.
  • Experience creating content for social media channels
  • Familiarity with social media analytics tools to monitor campaign success and KPIs.
