Role
*Ringfenced to LJMU Level 6 or PGR Masters student in the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences* 

 
This role is to provide Sports Science Support, Match Analysis, Physiology & Strength & Conditioning support across the Academy and 1st environments at Everton Football Club. 
 
 

Duties and responsibilities
Under the direct supervision and guidance of staff employed by the Client, you will be actively involved with the following duties:

• Hydration testing and intervention protocols
• Heart rate monitoring and the feedback of results to coaching staff and players
• GPS monitoring and feedback of data to coaching staff and players
• Monitoring and feedback of strength and power sessions
• Working alongside club staff to collect and analyse Functional Movement Screening (FMS) data
• Collection of anthropometric measures and collation of data for feedback
• Tutoring to deliver player warm-ups (matches and training sessions)
• Tutoring to deliver elements of the Academies age-specific speed development programme
• Tutoring to deliver elements of the Academies age-specific strength and power programmes
• Nutrition support programmes/interventions before, during and after training/games
• The importance of “best practice” when working with adolescent and pre-adolescent athletes
• Understanding the challenges of long term athletic development in young athletes
• Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the grade of the post

Skills and experience

Essential:

  • Computer literacy, including MS office, excel and databases
  • Demonstrated familiarity within professional football
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and capable of working independently
  • Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Organised and capable of working to deadlines and problem solving

 

Desirable:

  • Experience of working within a professional football Academy
  • Professional football coaching qualifications and/or experience of coaching
  • Experience in dealing with multiple stakeholders (e.g. parents, players and coaches)
