Unitemps are recruiting for a Communications, Events and Campaigns Coordinator for the UCL Student Support and Wellbeing Services. This is a full-time role at 36.5 hours per week. This role is for a February 3rd start date and has a projected end date of August 29th 2025. Payment is set at Grade 7 with the final spine point being dependant on experience of the chosen applicant; however at minimum it will be 22.66 + holiday pay per hour. This role is UCL campus based at Gower Street.

Context

Student and Registry Services are responsible for providing services to all students throughout their time at UCL and for supporting academic departments and administrative staff in delivering a high quality student experience. We also play a key role in co-ordinating UCL's governance processes and academic quality assurance operations. 

UCL Student Support and Wellbeing Services (SSWS) provides information, advice and welfare support for all registered students, including delivery of related student events.

The Communications, Events and Campaigns Coordinator supports this in ways such as ensuring students have easy access to specialist support from internal, external and community organisations, and helping to run our wellbeing events.

Main purpose of the job:

  • To support the Student Support and Wellbeing (SSWS) department’s commitment to offering excellent student care to all students at UCL with a focus on support for students around harassment and sexual misconduct. 
  • To contribute to the delivery of UCL’s whole university approach to student support and wellbeing. 
  • To contribute to the delivery of various strategies and policies and any other relevant strategic priorities as they apply to the department.   
  • To co-ordinate the development of an effective communications workstream with a focus on support for students around harassment and sexual misconduct within SSWS.
  • In undertaking these responsibilities, to liaise with students, members of staff at UCL and external organisations. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • To initiate and develop projects and opportunities aimed at raising students’ and staff’s awareness of internal and external harassment and sexual misconduct support services and how to access them.
  • To work closely with colleagues across UCL to enhance the harassment and sexual misconduct support provision and promotion.
  • To develop and implement effective prevention campaigns aimed at preventing harassment and sexual misconduct.
  • To contribute to the effective management of information relevant to the work of the SSWS department. SSWS manages a wide range of communication channels such as website, printed resources, apps, online and social media platforms.    
  • To analyse processes, management data and student feedback to identify and realise improvements to UCL’s approach to student welfare specific to harassment and sexual misconduct.
  • To support the delivery of processes arising from this analysis, supporting their development and implementation.  
  • To support the rest of the Events and Campaigns team in the planning and delivery of events activity and projects throughout the year. 
  • To keep up to date with developments and expertise in the area of student support and wellbeing, including knowledge of regulations and legislation affecting students and attending relevant training events. 
  • To support the development of policies, guidance documents and other resources relevant to the work of the SSWS department. 
  • To undertake all work in line with the SSWS department’s strategic priorities, UCL’s policies, procedures and regulations. 
  • To promote inclusion, equality and diversity amongst students and staff at all times.

  • To maintain an awareness and observation of Fire and Health & Safety Regulations, and to go about duties in a resource efficient way and minimising impacts to the environment wherever possible. 
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade and purpose of the post.

Other or Occasional Duties:

  • SRS staff may, subject to the agreement of their line manager, be called upon to assist with additional duties relating to Health and Safety, or other roles deriving from other UCL strategies, policies or initiatives. 

Special Working Conditions:

  • Staff may be subject to the following, as determined at the discretion of the Head of Department: 
  1. restrictions on the taking of annual leave during the main enrolment period of each academic year and/or at times of high section-specific workload; 
  2. occasional work outside of normal hours, on weekends and/or business travel.   
  • Student and Registry Services operate agile working practices which include a clear-desk policy as standard, and opportunities for compressed working hours. 

Skills and experience

Experience and knowledge:

  • Education to degree level or equivalent - Essential

  • Experience in a role focused on supporting students - Essential
  • Knowledge and experience of project management and effective delivery within agreed deadlines - Essential

  • Experience of managing large-public facing websites including the use of content management systems - Desirable
