This role is UCL hybrid working; in part mandatory from the office (2 days) and part from home (3 days).

The UCL EGA Institute for Women’s Health is seeking a Grade 6 HR Officer to join our dynamic team on a two-month basis. This role is ideal for someone with prior experience in HR and working knowledge of systems such as MyHR, TalentLink, and other UCL platforms.

We are looking for a hands-on professional who can work independently with minimal supervision, confidently manage recruitment processes (e.g., liaising with recruitment panels), and handle HR-related tasks efficiently.

As part of a supportive and collaborative environment, you will contribute to the Institute's mission of advancing women's and babies' health through cutting-edge research, education, and clinical excellence. Hybrid working arrangements are available, with up to 60% remote working.

Duties and responsibilities

The HR Officer will play a key role in providing dedicated HR and administrative support to the UCL EGA Institute for Women’s Health.

Reporting to the Institute Manager (IM) and Senior HR Administrator (SHRA), the postholder will manage the full recruitment cycle, including posting job adverts, arranging interviews, and supporting onboarding processes.

They will also maintain accurate HR records, assist with contract changes, and ensure compliance with UCL systems such as MyHR and TalentLink.

In addition to HR responsibilities, the role includes a variety of administrative tasks, such as:
  • managing building access,
  • assisting with health and safety duties,
  • and providing support for academic staff, including meeting coordination and project work.

The postholder will also contribute to the organisation of events and hybrid meetings, ensuring effective use of platforms like MS Teams and Zoom.

This role requires a self-sufficient and adaptable individual who can work independently with minimal supervision while delivering high-quality HR and administrative support.

Skills and experience

The ideal candidate will have:
  • A strong general education to at least GCSE/A-level or equivalent, with significant experience in HR or administrative roles, preferably within an academic or similar environment.
  • Proficiency in UCL systems such as MyHR, TalentLink, and other administrative platforms is essential, alongside excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite and website editing tools.
  • Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to take initiative and meet deadlines in a busy, dynamic environment.
  • Experience with servicing committees, minute-taking, and supporting hybrid meetings is also highly desirable.
