Role
We are working with out colleagues at the Centre of Health Innovation to recruit a Research Assistant to assist with data collation and analysis for a funded study, “What mental health problems are experienced by undergraduate healthcare students and how can they be better supported in higher education?”. 

The post-holder will be employed for one day per week and will be supported by the two primary researchers on the project, along with the manager of the Student Wellbeing Service.  
 
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with existing research experience to develop their knowledge and skills further over a 12 month period. 
 
 

Duties and responsibilities

The successful candidate will be supporting with:

Extract and collate information from the Student Wellbeing Service database on healthcare students that have accessed counselling in the previous 12 months. Assist with analysis and presentation of this data.  

Assist with collation and analysis of the database containing the responses to the Student Wellbeing Survey. Assist with presentation of the results of this survey.

Assist with the transcription of the semi-structured interviews with Student Counsellors and help with collation and presentation of the thematic analysis of these transcripts.

Skills and experience

Training will be provided on the IT system for extraction of the Student Wellbeing Service data.

The Research Assistant will need the following skills and experience –

•    Use of Microsoft Excel for data analysis.

•    Presentation of data (graphs, charts and tables)

•    Knowledge of the principles of quantitative research and basic statistical data analysis

•    Knowledge of the principles of qualitative research and thematic analysis

•    Knowledge of the University’s IT systems
