Role

We are looking for a part-time Research Assistant with experience in qualitative research and interest in EDI.

The role is to contribute to a research project focused on understanding how women conceptualise the impact of menopause on their academic careers.

The RA will be working at different stages of this project from recruiting participants (female academics), running focus groups and supporting content analysis.

The RA will be based at the Department of Psychology, University of Warwick and working closely with Dr Marina Mendonça (PI) and members of Athena Swan.

Duties and responsibilities

Research tasks:

  • Recruitment of participants
  • Preparing and setting up three focus groups
  • Conducting focus groups
  • Content analysis (in collaboration with team)
  • Write up results to produce a report

Skills and experience

This post is an exciting opportunity for a MSc student in Psychology or Social Sciences with experience on qualitative research, interest in EDI and ability to deal with sensitive topics in a compassionate manner.

  • Good honours degree or equivalent in Psychology/Social Sciences (essential)
  • MSc/PhD student in Psychology or Social Sciences (desirable)
  • Experience in coordinating and conducting focus groups
  • Experience and competence in employing qualitative research methods
  • Range of qualitative research skills
  • Ability to deal with sensitive topics in a compassionate manner
  • Understanding of equal opportunities as they may impact on areas of research content
  • Good communication (both written and oral)
  • Ability to work within a team and autonomously
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal
