**********The below role is only open to Middlesex University Students***********

The AFE intern is a dynamic and multifaceted role that is focused on student experience and will support the department in meeting its KPIs. The intern will have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of activities, from the department’s social media presence, employability initiatives, social club management, event planning and ad hoc supporting projects.

Reporting to the Head of the Department, the AFE intern will provide quality support to ensure a high-quality student experience is maintained within the department’s programmes. The role requires a proactive individual with excellent communication skills, a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to multitask.

Duties and responsibilities

Support Department’s Social Media Presence: The intern will be responsible for building and maintaining the department’s social media presence on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, etc.

AFE Social Club: The intern will assist in running the AFE social club.

Fundraising: The intern will participate in planning and executing a fundraising event (such as a cake sale) for the Social Club.

Student Buddy Scheme: The intern will promote the scheme and handle administrative work.

Tax Clinic: The intern will promote the clinic and handle administrative work.

Employability Sessions: The intern will attend and support the department’s Employability sessions.

General Support: The intern will take registers, answer and direct queries from students to Academic Advisors, Richard, Alison, or Shan. Other general support within the department’s project will also be applicable.

Other Activities: In line with the department's strategic plans as agreed with the Head of the Department.

Skills and experience

  • Proactivity: The intern should be able to take initiative and not wait for instructions for every task. They should be able to identify what needs to be done and take action accordingly.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: The intern will be interacting with various stakeholders, including students, faculty, and external parties. Therefore, they should be able to express their ideas clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Strong Sense of Responsibility: The intern should take ownership of their tasks and ensure they are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Ability to Multitask: The intern will be involved in various activities, from social media management to event planning. Therefore, they should be able to handle multiple tasks at once without compromising on quality.
  • Attention to Detail: The intern should have a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy in all tasks, especially those related to accounting and finance.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: The intern should be able to identify problems and come up with effective solutions.
  • Teamwork: The intern should be able to work well in a team, as they will be working closely with other members of the department.
  • Adaptability: The intern should be flexible and willing to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Passion for Accounting, Finance, and Economics: The intern should have a genuine interest in these fields, as this will drive them to perform their best and contribute to the department’s success.
