Food Science Fusion Ltd [FSF] is an independent company based on the Sutton Bonington Campus of the University of Nottingham. We offer New Product Development and Innovation services to the food industry in the UK and Ireland. Our focus is on improving nutrition, taste, and commercialisation while enabling reductions on environmental impact of the food industry, enabling our clients to improve their path from Thought to Fork

The purpose of this role is to enhance the rigor of the scientific understanding and rational behind the research and recommendations we communicate to our clients to enable them to deliver options that will improve their capabilities, solve issues and increase commerciality

Duties and responsibilities
Day – to – day: Working in the food hall / laboratory/ office as needed on product recipe developments, proactively applying problem solving skills to enable the solutions required for success outcomes and developments. This involved planning the work schedule and delivering to pre-agreed times. Carrying out all the manual work required from ordering the required ingredients from approved sources; responsibility for the weighing, blending, cooking trials as well as keeping your area of work clean and safe. Setting out and recording organoleptic tests on potential recipes.
Working in a cross disciplinary team, contributing and learning from discussions and working closely with others.
There will be opportunities to work alongside partner companies and clients for both online and face-to-face meetings in addition to factory trials at the clients facilities .
The ideal candidate will have a questioning approach to tasks, an open and enquiring mind and being able to brainstorm and communicate. Being open and building your resilience as many trials and repeats may be necessary to perfect and prove the results.
Skills and experience
This is suitable for Post PhD candidate looking for permanent role that integrates research with commercialisation and has qualifications in any of the following disciplines, who has a good grasp of basic culinary skills and a deep interest in making food nutritious, taste good and with minimising environmental impact

Shifts and Times: 5 days, Flexible, with core hours 09.30 – 16.00
Pay Rate: Starting salary £27000/ annum depending on experience
Working location: Sutton Bonington, University of Nottingham Campus
Dress Code: Smart, and suitable for task [e.g. laboratory, food production & office] Restrictions on no heavy perfumes and minimal jewellery due to food hygiene & sensory requirements
