Description

Role
This research project investigates UON students’ understanding of critical thinking skills, their perceived needs and priorities, and focuses on empowering student voices in developing critical thinking skills. 

 
You will be members of a Student Research Panel (SRP) and engage as fieldworkers and co-creators in collaboration with the researchers. You will be involved in data collection, desk research and co-creation of a new resource bank tailored to identified learning needs, bringing fresh perspectives towards meaningful learning experiences for UON students. You will be trained and supported for fieldwork and involved in interpretation of results. 

Duties and responsibilities

• Responsible for establishing effective systems for collection of data, and subsequent recording and collation of data;

• Coordinate the collection of data;

• Undertake data analysis;

• Develop and maintain working relationships within the institution and externally;

• Work both independently and as a member of a team;

• Compile reports and other written information as required.

Skills and experience

First degree or being within 12 months of completion.

Communicate effectively with the academic team members and research participants with directive and progress information.

Communicate effectively with technical support staff.

Contact and/or interview participants as required.

Actively participate as member of research team.

Day to day organisation of own workload within framework of agreed activity.

Resolve day to day problems related to research objectives and deadlines.

Explain background to project to participants and/or to meetings and presentations if required.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, in English.

Willing to undertake a range of enterprise activities.

General sensitivity to be applied for team and colleagues.

We are seeking to recruit 6 student research assistants, 3 Undergraduate and 3 Postgraduate students from all Faculties, both home and international students.
