About Acorn Farm: Acorn Farm began in 1985 on 4 hectares of derelict land in Kirkby, Merseyside, with just one rabbit, two gerbils, and one employee. Initially a therapy project for people with disabilities, it has evolved into an award-winning, multifaceted charity. Our mission is to offer high-quality, affordable environmental, leisure, and educational attractions for the community. People with learning disabilities are integral to our operations. As a working farm and visitor attraction, we raise animals for their produce, which is sold in our shop. Our dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and Day Service users ensures smooth operations. We believe in the value of everyone's social role and proudly integrate individuals of different ages and abilities into all farm activities. Open 7 days a week, Acorn Farm employs 34 staff, provides Day Service placements for people with disabilities, and offers weekend volunteer opportunities for local youth. As a registered charity, we strive to keep our admission fees low to ensure accessibility for everyone, using any surplus to improve farm facilities.
