This role will enhance the educational experience in Robotics and automation technology at Middlesex University by leveraging the available state-of-the-art equipment in the Robotics Lab (Hatchcroft H101). The intern will focus on reviewing past BEng and MSc Robotics projects and align them towards the development of the newly launched Robotics website (www.robotics.mdx.ac.uk). The launch of the newly developed robotics website marks a significant step in engaging the next generation of innovators and technologists. Designed with students in mind, the platform creates an accessible, interactive, and inspiring digital space that fosters curiosity and learning about robotics aligning with the University's learning framework that encourages student co-leadership in curriculum development. You will work with the BEng and MSc Robotics teaching team in order to realise the inputs to the website, take media content from previous successful projects and provide up-to-date information on the resources required to study Robotics at Middlesex.  

Duties and responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain a visually appealing and user-friendly website for our robotics lab – including project showcases and lab equipment 

  • Collaborate with the robotics team to understand the requirements of the website, available resources within the lab and past/on-going projects 

  • Integrate interactive elements, including videos, animations, and 3D models, to showcase robotics projects and solutions effectively. 

  • Ensure website performance, scalability, and security.  

  • Use the existing content management system WordPress for easy updates and scalability. 

Skills and experience

Essential: 

  • Currently enrolled in an Engineering undergraduate or postgraduate programme  

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Creative mindset with the ability to think outside the box 

  • Sufficient technical knowledge of robotics equipment 

  • Comfortable working in a self-directed way as well as part of the team 

  • Ability to think creatively and outside the box 

 

Desirable: 

  • Experience in robotics, AI, or industrial automation industries. 

  • Knowledge of AR/VR technologies or 3D visualization tools. 

  • Familiarity with APIs for integrating robotics software or IoT systems into the website. 

  • Experience with copywriting such as blog, social media or web
