Unitemps are recruiting for a Temporary Research Assistant for the Smart Ring for Older Adults Project. This is a full-time role at 37.5 hours per week. This role is for a January 6th start date and will be for 3 months in total. Payment is set at 21.01 + holiday pay per hour. This role is UCL campus based role.

We are seeking a motivated HCI Research Assistant to join our team and explore how older adults use a smart ring to manage their health and wellbeing. In this role, you will assist in conducting user research, usability testing, and data analysis to understand the needs, behaviors, and challenges older adults face when interacting with wearable technology. 

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design user-centered solutions that enhance the usability and effectiveness of smart rings for health monitoring. 

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful research that empowers older adults to take control of their health through innovative wearable technology. This project is part of a larger UKRI-funded project called DigiAge between UCL and Lancaster University. The project aims to understand how to embed equity into the design of technologies for older people.  

The RA will report to to Dr. Aneesha Singh (aneesha.singh@ucl.ac.uk).

Duties and responsibilities

  • To conduct user research and run a user study and analyse the data.
  • The post holder will actively follow UCL policies including Equal Opportunities and Race Equality policies.
  • The post holder will maintain an awareness and observation of Fire and Health & Safety Regulations.
  • The postholder will carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the line manager.

Skills and experience

  • We are looking for a Computer Science/Engineering/Human-Computer Interaction researcher with user research and HCI skills to test working prototypes with users.
  • This role would suit someone doing a postgraduate degree, or a graduate/ postgraduate wanting short-term, full-time work.
