Unitemps are acting as an Employment Business, supplying temporary workers, in relation to this vacancy.

PCS are a well established care service in the UK. Their mission is to support the emotional, social, education and physical needs of the young people, ensuring that they are given every opportunity to reach their full potential and achieve positive outcomes, while adhering to OFSTED regulations.

The post holder will be based at one of our residential homes with the East Midlands. Employees should note, however, that although they shall be allocated to a specific home, they are employed by Priority Care Services and may be required at some point to work at other appropriate organisation provisions. The young people in the care of Priority Care Services present a variety of difficulties for which they will need varying levels of support. In order to provide the required care the staff team are required to work shifts allocated by the Manager or delegated deputy, including weekends, evenings, sleep in’s and the young people’s annual holidays.

Duties and responsibilities

  • To work in a positive, respectful and empowering manner with all young people in order to promote good relationships, encourage achievement, and proactively ensure the therapeutic care of young people.
  • To interact on an individual and group basis with all young people and provide a positive role model, maintaining high professional standards.
  • To support the educational development and achievements of the young people.
  • To act, as key worker to a particular young person in order to provide support and ensure the implementation of their individual care plan.
  • To contribute to the development of daily programmes and individual/group plans and actively participate in social, recreational and educational activities with the young people.
  • To liaise and collaborate positively with parents and partner agencies to ensure that the best interests of the young people are respected and promoted at all times.

Skills and experience

Qualifications

  • NVQ/QCF/ CYP level 3 health and social care children and young people / working with children and young people
  • OR
  • Be willing and able to study for a relevant qualification if not currently held

Skills required

  • The ability to communicate effectively with children and young people, families, colleagues and external agencies. Effective and efficient recording skills.
  • To be able to work to own initiative
  • Ability to take direction and self-motivate 
  • Excellent Oral and written interpersonal skills
  • Effective and efficient team work
  • To conduct themselves in a professional manor in statutory reviews and professional meetings
  • To lead by example and follow policy and procedure
  • To engage and motivate young people 

Desirable experience

  • Experience of working with young people with emotional and behaviour difficulties
  • Previous experience of working with children or young people in a residential setting or a another children’s social care setting.
  • Experience of monitoring, recording and reporting writing.

Other

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Adaptability and flexibility to working pattern to meet needs of the service
  • A passion for wanting young people to reach their full potential
  • A minimum age of 22 years (in age in line with regulations requirements)
  • Hold a full, current, driving licence (the post holder is required to be a driver for this position)

Additional information

Start Date: ASAP

Shifts and Times: Variable but usually full day 07:30 – 22:30 (possibly a sleeping night too)
Pay Rate: £11.44 - £12.50 depending on experience and qualifications
Working location: Woodthorpe, Nottingham
Dress Code: Casual
