Description

Role

This role is to support a faculty project about inclusive curriculum.

The successful research assistant will be helping to design and run student discussion groups to help understand what makes students feel included in their learning, their classrooms and their programmes. 

The role will also involve collating and organising the data from the discussion groups and supporting the analysis and presentation of the data.

Duties and responsibilities

• Responsible for establishing effective systems for collection of data, and subsequent recording and collation of data;

• Coordinate the collection of data;

• Undertake data analysis;

• Develop and maintain working relationships within the institution and externally;

• Work both independently and as a member of a team;

• Compile reports and other written information as required

Skills and experience

• Current student at UON;

• Use standard and project–specific research techniques and methods including focus groups;

• Recruit focus group participants;

• Analyse and interpret results of own research and generate original ideas based on outcomes;

• Explain background to project to participants and/or to meetings and presentations if required;

• Communicate effectively with the academic team members, professional services and technical support staff, and research participants;

• Actively participate as member of research team;

• Part of decision-making progress regarding deliverables and progress;

• Administrative work for meetings and management of project(s);

• Day to day organisation of own workload within framework of agreed activity;

• Resolve day to day problems related to research objectives and deadlines;

• Use computer for data processing and analysis;

• Organisation skills. Good organizational skills to collect and merge several different data streams into unified and confidential database;

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, in English;

• Working in office or lab with low level risk;

Additional information

This role will be working roughly 30 hours between January to June.
