THE ROLE 

The department of Faculty of Arts, Design & Humanities at De Montfort University are looking to recruit a Student Retention Research Assistant.

Please note that this role is only open to current DMU Students

Expected start date: TBC

Expected end date: 31.03.2025

Expected interview date: 9/12/2024 and 10/12/2024

Rate of pay: £11.91

Holiday Pay: £1.86

This role is a Hybrid role working both from home and De Montfort University. 

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • To support the development of outputs for a student retention research project 
  • To work collaboratively with key stakeholders, including academic and professional services colleagues within DMU and at partner institutions
  • To arrange and run student-led focus groups/surveys/interviews to gain an authentic understanding of student experience
  • To collate, evaluate, analyse and report back key findings from the research focus groups, interviews and surveys
  • To undertake data analysis
  • To follow appropriate confidentiality and ethical practices
  • To undertake associated project duties as requested

Skills and experience

Qualifications and Training:

  • Currently studying on a course at DMU, Leicester campus and throughout the duration of the role 

Previous Work Experience 

  • Working with others in a professional context
Specific Knowledge / Skills / Abilities required:
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work on your own initiative
  • Team working skills
  • Working knowledge and experience of using MS Office packages (e.g., Word, MSTeams, Outlook)Competence in using Microsoft Excel and working with data

  • Experience of undertaking research, data collection, data analysis, and evaluation
  • An understanding of the issues relating to student engagement and student representation
  • Ability to present information in an engaging graphical way
  • Ability to undertake qualitative analysis
