Student Intern and Co-Researcher: We're Going on a Book Hunt!

The role involves planning, delivering and evaluating a  weekly Children's Literature Book club. This club will be aimed at level 4 of the Education and Primary Studies cohort and  aims to build on students' wellbeing/ belonging. Student interns will also promote diverse and positive representations of often under-represented groups and themes within children's literature. Successful interns will plan for the content in response to peer group  feedback and co- evaluate the project with the project lead.

Duties and responsibilities

We are looking for three interns to work as co-researchers to design, deliver and evaluate a social Children's Literature book club. Your role would involve: Working collaboratively with LJMU staff and students

Collaboratively developing a literature review 

Planning and organising for Children's Literature Book Club sessions

Selecting resources and ways to encourage discussion and sharing of ideas with a focus on diversity

Co-designing research to evaluate the project

Co-leading data collection through methods such as surveys and diaries/ journalling/ note-books etc

Co-analysing student responses

Writing up key findings to circulate

Exploring possibilities for wider dissemination (such as the Teaching and Learning conference)

Skills and experience

We are looking for students who are currently studying atlevel 4 of BA (Hons) Education and Primary Studies.

Student application should have:

Excellent time management and organisational skills

Excellent communication and social skills

A passion for reading - especially children's literature

A keen interest in promoting diversity through the selection of diverse children's texts

An interest in getting involved in collaborative research
