Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is taking an innovative approach to policy development by directly involving students in shaping our Assessment and Feedback Policy and Guidance. This pilot initiative builds upon three years of successful staff engagement in policy review, and now we're excited to bring student voices into this important process. LJMU is seeking enthusiastic Level 6 students a unique opportunity to participate in a review of the policy. This isn't just a standard feedback collection exercise - it's an opportunity to:

Learn how university assessment policies are developed and implemented

Understand the complexities and considerations behind assessment regulations

Contribute to real policy changes that will affect future LJMU students

Work alongside academic experts in assessment and feedback

Develop professional skills in policy review and development

Duties and responsibilities
Duration: One week (3rd - 7th March 2025, during Enrichment Week)

Time Commitment: 15 hours total (5 half-days) for each student
 
Attend daily online meetings (1 hour each) to discuss and review current policies
Engage in guided discussions on assessment and feedback practices
Participate in brainstorming sessions and idea generation
Develop proposals for policy changes
Prepare ideas for university committees
Contribute to a report on the review processWork independently on reviewing documentation

Skills and experience

  • Current LJMU students at Level 6
  • Representation from various disciplines: STEM, health, arts, social sciences, professional studies, and creative programmes
  • Critical thinkers with fresh perspectives on assessment and feedback
  • Interest in understanding the opportunities and limitations of assessment policy development
  • Strong communicators with the ability to articulate ideas clearly
  • Team players who can collaborate effectively in a diverse group

Working from home.
