Role
The Registry Assessments Team, with the support of internal and external invigilators, are responsible for ensuring that the University’s centrally organised exams offer a calm and smooth experience for our students through efficiently organised and managed exam periods. As a member of the invigilation team you will be helping to manage the operational tasks during the exam periods and will be acting as a representative of the University in your interactions with students.

Duties and responsibilities
As a senior invigilator your role and responsibilities will include:
· Ensuring the invigilation team maintains the confidentiality and secure storage of all exam papers and materials before, during and after the exams
· Ensuring a calm environment is maintained throughout the exam session which will give students the best possible opportunity to be successful in their exams
· Ensure that the invigilation team support students with accessing their exam. This include helping students find their seat, monitoring student behaviour and ensuring that they adhere to the regulations of examinations
· Ensure that the invigilation team is vigilant in their monitoring of students without impeding their ability to engage with their exam and ensure that all students are monitored for signs of exam misconduct
· Clearly and confidently verbally explain to the students the University instructions and rules at the beginning of each exam
Skills and experience
A senior exam invigilator needs to be:
· able to coordinate the examination and manage the team of invigilators
· confident and able to communicate clearly and effectively with staff and students, including clear verbal communication
· team players, with the ability to work on their own initiative
· able to have a strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy
· able to manage/direct large groups of people
· able to work and plan the tasks in an organised and structured way
· able to remain calm in pressured situations and able to seek help where appropriate
· IT confident to be able to run IT and computer-based exams
· a reliable, dependable and punctual team member
· committed to ensuring the confidentiality of the activities that they are engaging with
· committed to providing a good experience for our students, ensuring that the exam sessions run smoothly and provides the best possible opportunity for our students to succeed in their exams
· committed to a fair exam delivery, ensuring that the rules are applied fairly and consistently when investigating and reporting any exam misconduct with the ability to deal sensitively with difficult situations
· able to demonstrate a sensitive approach to individual students to meet their needs as appropriate
