Role

The purpose of this role is to ensure that all incoming and outgoing post is efficiently and accurately processed, to deliver excellent levels of service to both staff and students throughout the University.

You will also be expected to support with the stores system, deliveries of stock items and University Managed store equipment.

Duties and responsibilities

• To take delivery of all items delivered to the Resource Centre, sign for and place in check off area (except IT equipment unless advised by Resource Centre Supervisor).

• To place parcels and post in containers/trolleys for delivery to post room. 

• To check deliveries are correct, advise Finance staff of any issues.

• To store deliveries in correct location in Resource Centre or place in ready for collection bay.

• Log all deliveries in plannon system.

• Re-order stock using plannon system.

• Dispatch for delivery driver and return managed store items in store location using plannon system.

• Carry out deliveries when required.

• Working to 1st Degree Facilities Standard operating procedures.

• To sort and allocate external/internal post ready for collection and delivery according to the time slots specified within the Service Level Agreement.

• To record all parcel deliveries, label and sort ready for collection and delivery to both lockers and individuals across the estate as required.

• To efficiently and accurately process outgoing letters and parcels, providing expert advice when necessary to staff.

• To undertake administrative duties associated with processing outgoing letters and parcels, using computer based software and systems.

• To check and maintain all post room equipment and contact service provider when necessary to rectify faults.

• Ensure that all consumables stock levels required to manage the post room service are regularly checked and maintained.

• To be professional and courteous when liaising with external post and parcel delivery drivers, managing relationships with suppliers to ensure continuity of service.

• Carry out deliveries to the University estate when requested.

• Assist stores operative’s staff when required.

Skills and experience

Have a full /clean UK driving licence

Able to demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills to a standard appropriate to post

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Able to work accurately and safely

Experience in post room operations

Experience in completion of work in accordance with approved codes of practice and legislative compliance

Have sound knowledge of products and materials currently in use

Experience working in the Higher Education sector

Smart phone/tablet literate

Personal Qualities

Please note this is a temporary role for 5 weeks in the first instance.

Please only apply if you can commit to working full time  - 9 -5 Monday to Friday.
