Role
The overall purpose of the this role is to provide help to students, particularly those with low levels of digital confidence and/or with little experience of using computers, who need additional assistance and support to access and effectively use NILE, Microsoft Office, and other technologies as part of their studies at the University of Northampton.

Duties and responsibilities

• To help students who have limited computer experience with basic computing queries, such as how to use their University laptop, how to browse the internet, how to save and manage their files, how access and send emails, etc.

• To help students with basic questions about NILE, such as how to access NILE courses, how to use other NILE tools such Collaborate, Padlet, PebblePad, etc., and how to submit assignments.

• To help students with basic queries about Microsoft Office applications, in particular Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

• To help students with other basic queries related to using computers and digital tools for learning, and to signpost them to other sources of support (e.g., LinkedIn Learning, LearnTech Support, PebblePad Support) where necessary.

Skills and experience

Currently studying at the University of Northampton

Digitally confident, with excellent IT/digital skills and an ability to understand new/unfamiliar software quickly and intuitively

Experience of using NILE

Experience of using Microsoft Office applications, including Word and PowerPoint

Experience of using Microsoft Excel

Experience of using PebblePad

Good understanding of how to browse the internet safely Ability to support students to use technology

Friendly and approachable

Self-motivated and organised

Additional information

Please note you must be a current University of Northampton student to apply. 

Interviews will take place in early December 

You will be required to work 4 hours a week between the 27th January – 23rd May 2025 (not including the spring break: 7 – 22 April 2025)
