Role
Research Assistant within the Countryside and Community Research Institute at University of Gloucestershire.The Countryside and Community Research Institute (CCRI) is one of the largest specialist rural research centres in the UK, working at the interface of agriculture, society and the environment on issues relevant to rural and urban development, in the UK, Europe and further afield. Working with colleagues and partners in the physical as well as social sciences the CCRI has placed itself at the centre of a nexus of mutual exchange. These exchanges range from soil science, sustainable agriculture, to the culture of food, and the limits of the food system.
Duties and responsibilities
To carry out interviews with relevant stakeholders for contract research project looking at the challenges for rural areas of moving to an electricity-based energy supply. The work is based in Gloucestershire as part of a case study set in the county.
Skills and experience
We are seeking two recent high-level graduate or current masters of doctoral student, most likely in the social sciences.
As this role involves collecting data through a semi-structured interview, applicants will need to be confident in approaching stakeholders and able to converse effectively.
The role requires competence in use of standard MS office tools to input the interview data collected.
Ideally candidates will have had experience of interviewing, either as part of research or market data collection.
An awareness and understanding of challenges facing rural communities and businesses would be advantageous.
