Role
As part of the Net Zero Pathfinder programme, the University of Staffordshire has entered into partnership with growing Cannock based company, Chase Metal Recycling Ltd, who are based within the scrap metal sector.
We are looking to recruit part-time Innovation Consultants to support, develop and innovate work to help these companies address their Net-Zero objectives, within their premises.
The consultant will work with the business to:
- Collect information about its operational practices, products and services and associated carbon emissions.
- Identify appropriate actions and initiatives that the company could implement to reduce carbon emissions.
- Produce a roadmap for their implementation.
This collaboration is bespoke and a truly unique opportunity for you to get involved in and greatly increase your career development moving forward. This role is funded by UK Shared Prosperity Fund and will be supported by a Technical Specialist with relevant expertise.
Duties and responsibilities
Main activities will vary from partnership to partnership, but the associate will be provided with a framework around which the project activities are expected to focus. These activities will include:
- An energy audit of the business
- Collection of data on scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions
- Explore scope 3 carbon emissions.
- Supply chain and process mapping
- Identification of priorities and opportunities to reduce carbon emissions.
- Identification and feasibility study of potential low/zero carbon initiatives
- Production of a final report that sets out a net-zero carbon roadmap for the business.
While completing this work and producing the net-zero carbon roadmap the associate will report to the company/ business supervisor on a weekly basis and be provided with regular support from the Technical Specialist Supervisor and University Project Manager/ Business Engagement Officer, Net Zero Pathfinder
Skills and experience
The successful candidate will need to have:
- Knowledge of Net Zero issues including carbon reduction, sustainability and climate change would be advantageous.
- Previous experience in industry would be desirable.
- Finding solutions/working in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of gathering data and report writing
- This appointment is available on a fixed-term basis for 9 weeks.
