Role

Our prestigious client are looking for an administrator to join their team. As a receptionist they are looking for reception duties to be completed efficiently and adhere to the guidelines that are laid down by doctors and management.  To receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way, to complete the patient triage forms for patients who request this support and to offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

The work is of a highly confidential nature and no information, either medical or personal, should be disclosed outside of practice personnel.Working days are Monday-Friday working 37 hours per week. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Greeting and directing patients and visitors to the surgery in a pleasant and helpful manner.
  • Accepting and handing out prescriptions, letters, forms and specimen bottles, etc.
  • information about patients, either medical or personal, is disclosed to persons other than those employed by or attached to the Practice for whom such information is relevant.
  • Extraction of medical records for appointments, visits, clinics or as requested.
  • Filing of medical records, letters, reports.
  • Dealing with queries from the doctors and other staff.
  • Making tea or coffee for the doctors and staff.
  • To have responsibility for the health and safety and welfare of others in the working environment, to follow safe working practices and to comply at all times with the Practice’s health and safety policy.
  • Maintain good working relationships with other members of the practice/primary care team and staff from other agencies.
  • To identify training needs of self and participate in relevant education/training programmes.
  • To attend staff meetings as required.
  • To undertake such duties as may be required from time to time, as are consistent with the responsibilities of the grade and the individual’s level of competence.

Skills and experience
Desirable:

  • At least 12 months experience of working in a reception environment or with the general public
  • Receptionist qualification
  • Experience of working in GP practise or NHS environment
  • A knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows Operating systemsEssential
  • Self-reliant, helpful
  • Open and approachable disposition 
  • Flexible team player
  • Reliable and dependable attitude
  • At least 12 months experience of dealing with the general public on the telephone
  • Ability to self-motivate, organise and priorities own workload
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Enthusiasm and determination in achieving goals
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge
  • Reliable and flexible, willing to undertake a variety of duties
