Role

Unitemps are recruiting for three Student Wellbeing Champion roles; this role is suitable for current UCL students only. This is a part time role at 5 hours per week (but may vary). This role is for a December 2nd start date and has a projected end date of March 28th 2025. Payment is set at £14.48 + holiday pay per hour. This role will be UCL on campus working.

The Events and Campaigns team are part of UCL Student Support and Wellbeing Services and they host regular events and activities to proactively help students to maintain their wellbeing. The Events and Campaigns team curate events campaigns to support the three core aspects of your UCL experience: Social bonding, Skills for life and Wellbeing at university.

The Events and Campaigns team are recruiting three Student Wellbeing Champions, at least one of whom will be an international student, at least one of whom will be an undergraduate student and at least one of whom will be a postgraduate student. Student Wellbeing Champions are students employed on a temporary basis to support the planning, promotion and delivery of these events and activities.

Student Wellbeing Champions will be required to work minimum five hours per week during term time.

Exact timings of when Student Wellbeing Champions will carry out their five hours of work each week will be discussed upon appointment of successful candidates. These five hours will usually be split across Mondays and Tuesdays. Student Wellbeing Champions will be expected to work on campus in the Events and Campaigns team office on these days.

Student Wellbeing Champions will be employed until the end of Term 2 (Friday 28 March 2025) in the first instance, with the potential to be extended until the rest of the academic year, although this is not guaranteed.

Duties and responsibilities

· Support the planning of events and activities through sharing ideas, looking at and collating data and feedback from previous activities and capturing new student feedback.

· Support the promotion of events and activities through developing promotional materials, social media content and approaching and speaking to students on campus.

· Conduct research into social media trends and propose ideas for social media content for the Student Support and Wellbeing Services accounts.

· Conduct benchmarking against what other universities are doing in their student support services space.

· Support in the delivery of events and activities ensuring spaces and resources are prepared and ready, and that speakers and session leads have all they need for their activity.

· Ensure effective communication with staff members within the Events and Campaigns team regarding work in progress, implementation of developments and emerging trends or issues.

· Undertake all work in line with UCL policies, procedures, and regulations and to ensure at all times the promotion of equality of opportunity and non- discrimination in accordance with UCL’s Equal Opportunities policies.

· To undertake all work in line with the UCL Data Protection Policy and UCL Student Support and Wellbeing Services privacy notice.

· To maintain an awareness and observation of Fire and Health & Safety Regulations, and to go about duties in a resource efficient way and minimising impacts to the environment wherever possible.

· Any other duties commensurate with the grade and purpose of the post.

Skills and experience

  • A good knowledge of UCL and its student support services
  • A passion for student wellbeing
  • Understanding of the aims and objectives of UCL Student Support and Wellbeing Services
  • Understanding of challenges that different students face and how these can influence their wellbeing
  • Experience creating content for a variety of social media channels
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people
  • The ability to work both individually and as part of a team
  • The ability to take and give instructions effectively
  • The ability to take initiative and resolve problems when needed
  • The ability to reflect on own performance and improve, and to respond well to constructive feedback
  • The ability to conduct research in order to make informed decisions
