Role

Human Resources are looking to recruit a group of UCB students ( FE/HE) to support in interviews for University College Birmingham staff. 

The University prides itself on the relationships fostered between staff and students, as evidenced by our University of the Year – Silver Award in the 2023 Whatuni Student Choice Awards.

As part of this commitment, we continue to look for ways to improve, and would now like to include members of our student body in the selection process for new staff members.

As a Human Resources Ambassador you would join interview panels for a wide variety of roles; engaging in the interview process through Q&A panels and/or microteach sessions with candidates and post-interview feedback to line managers. Full-training will be provided to all successful candidates.

Duties and responsibilities

  • To participate in interview question and answer panels alongside senior staff members.

  • To participate in microteach panels alongside senior staff members.

  • To provide detailed feedback in line with training following interview or microteach sessions.

  • To commit to be fully trained in UCB recruitment & selection processes and remain up-to-date.

  • To commit to be full trained in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and remain up-to-date.

  • To commit to a number of hours per week to support on interviews.

  • To ensure practice is in line with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulations.

  • To commit to upholding the principles of Safeguarding and the PREVENT agenda.

  • Any other duties commensurate with the nature and grade of the post.

Skills and experience

  • Experience in a customer-focussed environment

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Organised, punctual, responsible, and reliable

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Current UCB student

  • Flexible approach to work. 

  • An understanding of the principles of Safeguarding and the PREVENT agenda in the context of further and higher education.

  • Ability to manage your student workload and a part time job
