On behalf of our Leicester Client, we are seeking to recruit NMH Support Worker, the role will support an induvial student to obtain a teaching qualification and her aspiration of becoming a teacher. This is a great opportunity for someone to gain experience the education sector with a reputable origination.  

Our Client requires a support worker to provide practical assistance for a trainee teacher completing a two-year rigorous programme of training. 

For offsite conference support a female support worker is required due to the nature of personal care tasks associated with the role.

The main support required will be based in Stoke Golding, Nuneaton, CV13 at the client’s home, to support their online study and preparation and submission of academic assignments toward their PGCE qualification. Infrequent support will be required at in-person/ offsite conference.

Expected Start Date: ASAP with the role to be ongoing

Hourly Rate: £12.44 per hour and Holiday Pay: £1.50 per hour

Duties and responsibilities

  • Manual navigation and operation of technology under direction of the client who uses MacOS – Frequent
  • Handle and place or deliver physical items to their destinations under the direction of the client – Frequent
  • Hand or computer recording and effective summarising of notes, minutes, and actions needed to participate and support study using a MacOS device – Frequent
  • Prepare cold lunches, tea, coffee, etc., under direction of the client and provide support at break times – Occasional
  • Help with accessing buildings and facilities – Infrequent (only when offsite at conferences)
  • Help with attending and accessing mandatory off-site training including support to book and travel via public transport and taxis, assisting with navigation and managing personal items required by the client to attend – Infrequent (only when offsite at conferences)
  • Providing personal care under direction of the client – related to bathing and personal/professional grooming, getting dressed, and using the toilet – Infrequent (only when offsite at conferences)

Skills and experience

Qualifications:

  • GCSE English and Maths Grade C or 4 or above (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated written and verbal fluency in English to a professionally acceptable standard
  • Demonstrable experience and/ or desired qualifications:L2 Diploma in Care, L2 Certificate in Principles of Equality, Diversity and Rights in Care, L2 Certificate in Understanding Dignity and Safeguarding in Adult Health and Social Care, OCN L2 or L3 Certificate in Notetaking for Students with Disabilities in Higher Education, or equivalent experience

Other knowledge and skills:

  • Familiarity and confidence using MacOS on a laptop or desktop
  • Familiarity and confidence navigating the web using Safari
  • Familiarity and confidence using word processing software
  • Training and guidance on MacOS and Apple keyboard use will be provided as needed.
