Description

Role

GROWS is a partnership of the six universities and colleges in Gloucestershire. We develop resources and deliver events that help young people aged 11-18 make informed decisions about their future.

GROWS is offering small group tuition to schools, using current university students as tutors. The tutors will deliver the Crafting Accurate Sentences course which consists of nine weeks of one-hour sessions of small group tuition at a Gloucester secondary school. The course is targeted at disadvantaged Year 8 pupils who have academic ability but lack high performance literacy skills. The expected outcome is that pupils gain proficiency in crafting accurate sentences, evidenced through pre- and post- course tasks.  Tutors will be working in a secondary school in Gloucester, delivering tuition during the school day.

The course content takes pupils through basic sentence structure, through to more complex sentences, focusing on knowledge and accuracy.
