On behalf of our Leicester/ Leicestershire Client, we are seeking to recruit a Sessional Interpreter – Punjabi/Urdu   

We are looking for a candidate who can work freelance

This is a temporary role via an agency.

Expected start date: ASAP

Expected end date: Ongoing

Rate of pay:  £12.00

Holiday Pay: £1.45

We are looking to recruit a Latvian Interpreter on an on-going basis.

Working as part of the NHS, you will be required to facilitate communication between caseworker and service user by providing interpretation and translation services.

It will be necessary for you to be fluent in Punjabi/Urdu and English.

This role is an essential communication link between the service users and staff who provide the service.

Please note that hours will be available when requests come through. The bookings normally happen between 08.30am and 17:00pm Monday to Friday but on the odd occasion, there may be a request for an earlier start or a later finish. Each appointment will be approx. 1.5 hour in duration, and will be within the Leicestershire area. You will be required to travel from home to the appointment, so it is important you are able to access transport in and around the Leicestershire area.

Please note that hours will be available when requests come through. It is important to note, that appointment times will vary, and one week you will have an appointment to attend for 1.5 hours, and the next week there may not be any available appointments for you to support. Appointments are emailed to you by the client, and you will then need to confirm you are available to work

Duties and responsibilities

*To interpret information from Urdu/Punjabi to English in a professional environment and vice versa.

*To be able to deal with confidential information

Skills and experience

*Previous experience is an advantage.

*Good communication is essential - to speak/understand both English and Latvian fully.

*Reliability and professionalism are key to this role.

*To hold a DBS certificate (Disclosure Barring Service Check) would be advantageous.

It will be necessary for you to travel to various locations within Leicester & Leicestershire. You will need to be able to get to each appointment from your home address, so would be advantageous for candidates to have a driving licence.
