Role

Unitemps are recruiting for a IT Training Assistant (Digital Skills Development) within the Digital Skills Development department. The role is to work from 7th October 2024 and will run until 6th October 2025 part-time at 6 hours per week . Payment is set at 15.84 + holiday pay per hour and the role will be CAMPUS based.

The Digital Skills Development team in UCL Information Services Division (ISD) runs a range of digital skills courses for both staff and students. These courses cover a variety of applications and technologies, including Microsoft 365, statistical analysis software and programming. The courses are offered both remotely and in person on the UCL Bloomsbury campus.

IT Training Assistants also help to run our Excel Essential Skills Workshops. In these workshops, the Assistants work together to support participants to complete different tasks in Excel.

Duties and responsibilities

To support the Digital Skills trainer to deliver an effective session by:

  • Registering participants’ attendance
  • Ensuring participants are logged in correctly (online courses)
  • Helping participants access materials
  • Helping participants complete any tasks set by the trainer
  • Encouraging participants and helping them to have the best learning experience
  • Ensuring participants complete the post-course evaluation form

To work with other IT Training Assistants and trainers to run Excel Essential Skills Workshops:

  • Guiding participants to complete pre-set tasks using Excel

Occasionally, we may also ask IT Training Assistants to provide one-to-one support to participants where this is needed.

Skills and experience

You will have a good knowledge of Microsoft 365. In addition, knowledge of any of the following would be highly desirable: data analysis (SPSS, Stata, R, Matlab), LaTeX or programming.

You will be comfortable supporting students and staff from a range of backgrounds and cultures. You will also be patient in supporting those with a range of abilities.

Confidence, excellent timekeeping and an ability to explain concepts simply and clearly are essential skills for the role.

Please note to be eligible to work within this role, you must have the right to work in the UK, be physically based in the UK and be able to travel to our London based office for a RTW check (if required).
