Description

Role

The IMS Referee/Umpire role will be responsible for officiating IMS fixtures. Enforcing all the laws of the game and making sure fixtures are played on time. They are also responsible for working with IMS Exec to record results and produce any reports on any in game incidents as requested.

Start Date: 21/09/2024

End Date: 30/06/2025

Working Hours Various

Pay Rate: £12.59 per hour

Holiday Pay Rate: £1.52 per hour

Location: David Ross Sports Village, Sutton Bonington SC, Jubilee SC, Riverside SC and Highfields SC

Dress Code: Sports / Referee Kit

Duties and responsibilities

  • Impartially referee games (e.g. follow the play and make decisions, communicate clearly with players, control the behaviour of teams on the pitch) for IMS fixtures. 
  • Report back scores as requested by the IMS exec. 
  • Provide accurate impartial match reports as requested should incidents arise in the games which warrant and investigation by the IMS Development Officer and or university disciplinary. 
  • Inspect pitch and markings, and ensure equipment is safely set up before each game.  
  • If deemed to be unsafe to play stop fixtures taking place and report to facility manager. 
  • Attend and help with the delivery of any one-off events or tournaments. 
  • Attend one-to-ones with the referee coordinator, group team meetings and training days as required 

Skills and experience

  • Knowledge of the game and a willingness to work towards a recognised referee or umpire qualification. 
  • Knowledge of your specific sport and the rules of the game. 
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills. 
  • The ability to remain calm, honest, and completely impartial under pressure. 
  • Ability to produce short impartial match reports as requested detailing any in play incidents. 
  • An active interest in setting high standards of customer care and making sure IMS is a high quality provision at UoN

Benefits
Pay rate is £12.59 plus £1.52 holiday pay per hour

Additional information
Hours are allocated on a week by week basis dependant on the IMS fixtures. Generally we try and allocate fixtures for a term at a time (10 weeks) but there is sometimes a need for these to change at short notice week by week.
