Summary of role- The department of Disability Advice and Support at De Montfort University are looking to recruit a Note Taker (Manual/Electronic) to make comprehensive set of notes to meet the needs of the student. We are looking for a candidate who has experience in a student support role, note taking experience and excellent written skills including spelling, punctuation and grammar.

Expected start date:  January/February Onwards 

Rate of pay: £13.02

Holiday Pay: £2.03

This role will be campus based and hours will vary depending on the needs of the client.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide notes that are clear, accurate, complete and legibly written or electronic notes by the aid of a laptop
  • Always be punctual
  • Effective communication
  • Complete timesheets accurately each week
  • Escalate any issues to the Non-Medical Coordinator at the earliest opportunity
  • The ability to navigate around campus, including buildings
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Keep accurate records of time spent with student for payment processes as required.
  • Contribute as appropriate to the evaluation of service provision
  • Attend training as requested by the Non-Medical Coordinator
  • To undertake other duties such as mobility and practical support as required by the Non-Medical Coordinator
  • Treat all DMU staff, students, contractors and visitors with dignity and respect. Skills and experience

Essential criteria

  • Maths and English GCSE Grade C (Documentary evidence required)
  • Experience in a student support role
  • Note taking experience
  • Excellent written skills including spelling, punctuation and grammar
  • Excellent communication and time keeping skills
  • Ability to work within professional boundaries and maintain confidentiality
  • DBS check is required for this job role

Desirable Criteria

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent (Documentary evidence required)
  • Note taking experience at HE level
  • The ability to navigate a university virtual learning environment (e.g Blackboard)
  • Level 2 Manual Note taking qualification
  • Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Electronic Note taking
  • Excellent IT skills – 60wpm
