Description

Role
We are looking for current University of Nottingham students to support our Student Services Team with enquiries, directions, and reassurance to new students during Freshers and for the first few weeks of term.

We are recruiting ambassadors to support us with a series of different roles, which include working in our Student Service Centres, helping at our Registration, and supporting our Visa and Immigration Team. These roles will be based in a variety of locations across the University, including University Park Campus, Jubilee and Queens Medical Centre.
Your role will include answering queries from fellow students, providing directions, signposting to relevant information or teams through our website, managing queues and student expectations, and using systems to register or update information.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our Start of Session, and have the chance to make a big impact on the experience of new student at the very beginning of their UoN journey.
These will be highly visible roles and to take one on you’ll need great communication skills and feel comfortable providing friendly customer service.
You will be given training and access to resources to support (there will always be a member staff working nearby) so the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and confident in a customer service role, with a friendly and approachable manner.

Duties and responsibilities

Representing the University by acting as a positive role model
Staffing an enquiry point or desk in a busy student service centre
Providing advice and first-hand experience to students
Answering questions from new and returning students
Triaging students in a friendly way, escalating queries to Student Services staff, or other teams/locations as appropriate
Organising students, and supporting our queue management during our peak time in the service centres
Giving direction
Creating connections and reassuring new students by supporting them in their day to day activities during start of session

Skills and experience

Previous Ambassador experience is desired but not essential
Excellent customer service skills
Pro-active communication skills
An ability to comfortably and confidently talk to a range of people
Problem solving in busy and changeable situations
A good understanding of the campus, and University

Benefits
The pay rate for this role is £11.44 per hour plus £1.38 holiday pay per hour

Additional information

All the roles will be based on University Campus; including University Park Campus, Jubilee Campus and Queens Medical
 
Hours will be arranged via shifts, but the typical working pattern will be 9am-5pm Monday-Friday
Different roles may have different working times within these core hours
 
We also require shift support in our services centres on Saturday 21st September
 
Shifts will start for  Ambassadors from Monday 16th September
A mandatory training session will take place for all ambassadors on Thursday 12th September
This training session will be one hour, and the time will be paid
During this training session we will go over the requirements for the following weeks, using shifts, and the locations and variations of the roles that the Ambassadors will be taking on
 
You will be provided with a blue Ambassador T-shirt on your first shift
